Senior Degree Test

ITF Union Black Belts are held to the highest standards, being graded by our esteemed 7th, 8th and 9th Degree Examiners, ensuring that only the most deserving individuals receive their well-deserved ranks. IIC’s

International Instructor Courses are hosted by our Grand Masters in various countries across the year. Like all events hosted by our membership we welcome every ITF group as our open door policy is dedicated to the founders last wish.

What is the ITF Union?

It was created with the following goals:

1. Follow the teachings of General Choi from a technical and “moral culture” standpoint.

2. Maintain high technical standards and help promote a better understanding of General Choi’s Taekwon-Do by conducting high quality seminars and courses under the auspicious of World famous Masters and Grandmasters.

3. Organise regional and World championships that create a sense of brotherhood. We are one family!

4. Our vision is one of non interference in the national affairs of our members. We do however adhere to strict timeline in terms of Dan/Degree promotions.

The Executives

Each and every member of the esteemed ITF Union Executive has been elevated to the revered rank of 9th Degree Grandmaster by a Korean pioneer of ITF Taekwon-Do. This characteristic holds great significance within our close-knit family. We take immense pride in our rich lineage and storied past. The Promotion Committee diligently upholds the prescribed rank progression timeline set by General Choi, honoring his legacy.

Join the ITF UNION and become a driving force in one of the world’s most dynamic an innovative martial arts organisations. Simply use our contacts page and register your interest. You will be asked to forward the following information:

Proof of all grades up to current degree. If you are a 5th Degree for example, we need 5 separate jpegs of your certificates as proof of rank. The ITF UNION strictly follows the correct timeline for all rank promotion.

We have many groups in all countries that are working together and forming one body, but also in many countries there are independents who operate alone. However, if you choose to be independent (i.e. a direct member) you will not lose any benefits as this is our policy.
You can still take part in events being hosted by the main groups and just network with them. ITF Union is about freedom, so we will not tie you down.

We are a non profit making International ITF body, therefore there are no joining fees. We have seen many NEW ITF groups appear since the founders’ passing and seen the same policy used on most. ITF Union is about freedom and choice, therefore there is no joining fee as we are about putting TaeKwondo back together and not creating more divides.

ITF Union is about freedom. As an example, our members based in the U.K and other countries host many Open events over the year, attracting many practitioners. This also includes practitioners from outside of ITF Union.
ITF Union encourage its members to organize events helping to unite the Taekwon-Do practitioners from any ITF body.
ITF Union Executive Board organizes World events like World Championships and World Cups by having agreements with organizers willing to host such a Championship.

Degree Requirements 15/05/20

1st to 2nd degree – 1.5 years (a candidate testing for 2nd degree must be minimum 13 years of age)
2nd to 3rd degree – 2 years
3rdto 4th degree – 3 years (a candidate testing for 4th degree must have at least 21 years old)
4th to 5th degree – 4 years
5th to 6th degree – 5 years
6th to 7th degree – 6 years (a candidate for 7th degree must be at least 38 years old)
7th to 8th degree – 7 years
8th to 9th degree – 8 years (a candidate for 9th degree must be at least 55 years old)

Deduction time

In order to receive a deduction time between degree only those participating at an IIC may deduct a maximum period from 3 to 6 months during their waiting time for any new degree.

There is NO obligation to participate at an IIC however, it is highly recommended.
